An organization of published and aspiring authors, editors, agents, screenwriters, readers and other professionals in the crime genre field.

We're a killer group. The Florida Chapter of the Mystery Writers of America has over 250 members from Pensacola to Key West. Murdering by the book can be a lonely life. Our chapter can connect you with other authors who earn a living writing about death.

Our goal is to help experienced, professional writers advance their careers and to support new writers on the road to publication. Our chapter sponsors one of the best mystery writers conferences in the country -- SleuthFest -- every March in Fort Lauderdale. We host meetings and training sessions the year round throughout the state, and we help our members participate in major events such as the Miami Book Fair International.

Our monthly meeting speakers include agents, publishers, and book store owners interested in seeing our members’ works being published. We also invite experts to keep us up to date on weapons, poisons and police procedures.

The FMWA Chapter publishes a newsletter, THE RAP SHEET, filled with how-to articles about writing, publishing and marketing mystery-thrillers.
